How do you get rid of a bat(s)? in home?

Just had 3rd baby, came home from hospital today and there was a bat. Right now it's winter, and a "predator" guy came over to say that can't do anything about it right now, that bats live in colonies and they are probably hybernating in our walls and stuff, that we'll have to wait until spring. AAAAHHHH I'm so emotional after just having a baby, now i'm a nervous reck. Should I get another opinion? What should my family do right now? Should I not st ay at home especially in the night? Please someone help
